I'm writing this review to share my experience as a paying customer with Travelers Insurance during a recent homeowner's claim. What began as a standard roof and interior water damage claim turned into a frustrating ordeal marked by inconsistent communication, delayed responses, and a complete lack of accountability from the claims team. Here are the key issues I encountered: 1. Travelers Changed the Date of Loss Without Explanation
After reporting storm-related damage on February 12,2025, Travelers originally recorded the correct loss date as February 11,2025. Later, without notifying me or justifying the change, they backdated the claim to May 2024. This arbitrary adjustment was never explained—and was used to deny or limit parts of my coverage. 2. They Denied Code-Required Repairs, Despite Proof
Despite their own field adjuster and my contractor confirming that my roof decking was structurally unsound, Travelers refused to cover its replacement. The local city code requires decking to be replaced if it fails inspection, which mine clearly did (we provided photos, a pull test, and a code citation). Still, they denied the repair, even though my policy includes coverage for code-mandated upgrades. 3. I Was Given False Deadlines with No Policy Support
A Travelers representative told me I had "two weeks from the date of loss" to report related damages—an arbitrary deadline that doesn't exist in my policy. When asked to cite the source, they admitted they hadn't reviewed the policy and that the instruction came from management. To this day, no one at Travelers has been able to show me that clause in writing. 4. Policy Language Was Withheld Repeatedly
I made multiple formal requests for Travelers to cite the exact language in my policy used to justify their decisions (splitting claims, denying decking, imposing deadlines). Every time, they either deflected or ignored the request. If a customer asks how a decision was made, they deserve a clear answer—not a runaround. 5. Refusal to Provide Adjuster License Information
I asked for the full names and license numbers of the adjusters involved in my claim. Travelers refused, telling me I needed to request that from the state directly. This lack of transparency is deeply troubling. In short, Travelers Insurance made this process harder than it needed to be, treating me less like a policyholder and more like an obstacle to minimize payouts. I've since filed a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). I'm sharing this not out of frustration alone—but to inform other homeowners of what to expect when filing a claim. If you value clear communication, accountability, and policyholders being treated fairly, I recommend reconsidering your choice of insurer.

When I changed to travelers 5 yrs ago they assured me I would not see "zip code" increases as they are a primary insurance company. My rates are now up 125% with a whopping 35% this year. Never a claim or cost to insurance company. When I called they simply said that's our price and had a "too bad" attitude. What. Bunch of liars and scammers. Do not use travelers insurance company. They stick it to you once you are on board.

I searched diligently for homeowner's insurance in late fall '23, for a new townhome I purchased in early Dec. '23. I DO NOT EVEN LIVE THERE YET... but Travellers sent me a bill for $600 in January, 1 month after I chose them, and said they were raising it due to the visit they made to take photos right after I bought. That is a view from afar (they don't even come inside or go on the roof or anything except have a photographer take a few photos), yet they mentioned the roof as one issue. THE HOA TAKES CARE OF ROOF REPAIRS! I just they are just scam artists and lie, so I am looking and will switch to another carrier once I find it cheaper. Capitalism at its worst. Next.

Terrible Business
June 2, 2022

Got into an accident. The adjuster took almost 1 months to get to the price and when I ask for reevaluate the vehicle the process took even longer. After arrive at the price I want to get it further by buy back the vehicle they give me the price that I HAVE TO ACCEPT OR ELSE. There is no negotiation no following up.

Also on the side note, the adjuster send me the wrong email which get me into trouble with rental car. And when I dispute about it they want me to get the car back ASAP (that was at 4PM and the rental place close at 5PM) they gave me 1 HOUR no less.

It should be some of the worst out of the bad insurance out there. Don't be cheap... unless you never been into any accident.

Live in MA. Went to Scrubadub car wash to have car washed. For some reason, car lunged forward and smashed into car in front of me in tunnel. They had video of my car accelerating. Attendant stated my car was in drive and I showed him it was in neutral. So MA has a law on safe driver credit that charges you with an accident if damage claim exceeds $1000 for 2 cars. So mine was $680 and other persons was $800. If I had paid claim out of pocket on my car which I have $500 deductible on anyway, I would have not gotten the surcharge. However, at the time of the accident, I didn't feel it was my fault. So Travelers paid $180 of the claim on my car. I had my agent call Travelers to rescind the claim and they said they would not do it. So now I'm on the hook for about $300/year for 5 years. They are greedy only wanting more money rather than working with their client. They should have also investigated how many of these types of accidents happen at this car wash and what else could have caused it since I was definitely in neutral, but I can't prove it

Stay away from this company if you value your time and money. They bounced a check to me and would not take responsibility for it.

I had five quotes from this site. Four were pretty high but one was lower than my current premium. That's what I chose.
